Philosophy
At HDB/Cram & Ferguson, it is our goal to design buildings that not only reflect the firm’s original values, but also create a new heritage that will last for centuries. The churches we are designing today are rooted in the 120-year tradition of our firm, yet mindful of the realities of building in the modern world with modern methods and materials. We are continually researching and experimenting with new materials and techniques to accomplish traditional objectives, while utilizing the benefits of modern technology. Whatever the technology, it is our passion to design buildings with warmth and personality; buildings that tell a story.
Certain characteristics of our work remain constant. Quality of construction and attention to detail are of the utmost importance. These are the standards set by Ralph Adams Cram and Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue. Every building designed by them, whether it among the more than 50 that have achieved National Register status or not, is a national treasure. Our philosophy is that each and every building we design be a treasure as well.
